Faial is part of the Central Group and corresponds to the westernmost island of the designated \u201ctriangle islands\u201d, along with S\u00e3o Jorge and Pico, standing only 6 km away from the latter. The highest point on the island, at an altitude of 1043 m, is in Cabe\u00e7o Gordo, in the Caldeira area<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-b028359\" data-id=\"b028359\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-55c6b73 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"55c6b73\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>It has an airport with regular connections to the other islands as well as to the Portuguese mainland, although it is very common to arrive on the island by boat, either through the daily connections it has with the other islands of the \u201ctriangle\u201d, or through the marina.<\/p>\n<p>Horta, its city, is the island&#8217;s main urban centre and one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the Azores. The Horta marina, inaugurated in 1986, is one of the most famous harbours in the world.
